The villain character Iago in Othello

When I read Othello, a tragic drama from William Shakespeare, the characters that more impress me was Iago. He was the villain of the drama. This character represent many bad things like envy, treason, jealous, he was definitely a person without scruple.

In the beginning of the play Iago was with Rodrigo and Iago tells to him that he is going to help him Desdemona. All this in trade of money. There is when start the treason start because Desdemona was Othello`s girlfriend and Iago make to think to Othello that he was his friend. Iago make a plan where he betrays the trust of Cassio and Othello. In the end the plan doesn`t work. The plan of Iago was the most sinister plan that I never read. I thought how a person that is intelligent, have a good position (he was senator) can let him go for his envy to Othello because he was superior. Iago was egoist because he does not care the life and suffer of other people only himself.

When I read I put myself in the place of Iago and think in what has motivated him for do what he do. I think that he maybe was racist because Othello was Moore and in those time to be racist was common. But the argument that most convince me for what he does is the envy for Othello. We have to learn from this play to control better ours elf.
