Othello, The Moore of Venice is a drama written by William Shakespeare. In this play Shakespeare produce many characters with different shade and contrast. In his play he presents some important values or moral principles like love, friendship, justice and loyalty. Also he contrast those values already mention with treason, jealousy, envy and vengeance. One of the characters most exotic and best elaborated by Shakespeare was Iago. He is the villain character in Othello`s play. Iago is motivated by the hate that he fell toward Othello. Also Iago fell envy toward Cassio. This villain character takes advantage of the situation, manipulate it and cheat everybody for his own benefit.

The play begins in Venice were Roderigo is annoyed with Iago. Roderigo is in love with Desdemona. Iago tells him that he is goes to help him with her in exchange of money. The treatment that Iago is making with Roderigo tells us how is the personality of Iago; he is ambitious and he takes advantage of any circumstance. In the same conversation with Roderigo, Iago says that Othello give the position of lieutenant (the position that Iago wants) to Cassio who only knows theory about war and does not have any experience in the battle field. This situation makes a sense of resentment and hate from Iago toward Othello and Cassio. For this reason is that Iago wants take vengeance to Othello and Cassio.
Iago is the only characters that have small monologues in were he ventilates what he fell. In the ends of first act Iago end with a monologue where he give another reason that he have to hate Othello. The reason is that “Othello is making his job under his sheets”. This means that Iago knows the rumor that Othello is having sex with his wife Emilia. This rumor is totally false but Iago does not know.

Iago achieve to convince Cassio to drink. Them Cassio have a fight with Montano and when Othello comes Iago says that Montano was peaceful. Them Iago talks with Cassio and give to him a counsel. After this incident Othello makes Iago lieutenant. But Iago not stop his vengeance because he still feeling the hate and envy. Know he wants more; he wants the attention that Othello have.

The hate that Iago fell toward Othello makes him create an evil plan in where he includes his wife Emilia. Iago achieve with this plan making fell jealousy Othello and he lost in the anger that her wife is unfaithful he kill her and when he knows the truth he kills him self.

The wickedness and tyranny of Iago was the central role of this play motivated by the hate against Othello. He was an egocentric person; he wants to be more making the others to be less. Also the theme of racism is implicit in this play when Iago refers to Othello as the thicker lip but this is not what motivates Iago because the racism was common in that time . With everything that Iago made he did not achieve that he wanted, to be famous as Othello.
